You are not my ally, we are not in solidarity if your slogan is:
“I don’t care if you’re gay, just don’t be coming over here with that gay shit. I don’t get down like that.”
That assumes too much for us to be allies, much less in solidarity.
1. It assumes that I’m attracted to you or remotely interested in you; how presumptuous.
2. It assumes that I can somehow make you do what I want romantically or sexually; if you’re not gay, then why are you so worried?
3. Points 1 and 2 tell me that you think that men are predatory creatures by nature who push themselves onto others and get sex by force if necessary. What that reveals is how you perceive your role in relation to women.
In other words, you too dangerous to be my ally. So I’m better off without you.
